The Shaft-tail Finch (also commonly called the Long-tailed Finch) is a beautiful Australian finch that is popular with bird breeders.

- Chicks fledge at around 3–4 weeks.
These finches are generally hardy and are excellent aviary birds. They can often be housed with other peaceful finch species, provided there is enough space.
